Old pals and new friends.. Corey, who I first met in New York in 2001 for Storytellers (and saw again in London earlier this year.. receiving an ELO-themed lip balm from him) is on the left. In the middle is my second cool coincidence of the night.. Lisa.
So I had a handful of extra tickets after doing some horse trading and such, so put them out there to sell, either on one of various ELO FB fan pages or Stubhub. Lisa got in touch with me for an extra Sunday night ticket so I sold it to her, sending it to her by mail well before the show.
So what's the story?
Well, starting at the first coincidence, I sold another ticket to another new pal from Canada, Joe.. also via FB connections and eventually via mail. So, I go to this gathering on Friday night at the Best Western, and have a seat at one corner of the long table of ELO fans, get a drink, and discover shortly that Joe, the very Joe I sold a ticket to weeks before, was sitting *right beside me*! After exchanging pleasantries and finishing my first beer, I got up to get another from the bar. By the time I was ready to sit back down, my seat had been taken by someone else, so I sat in a corner seat at the OTHER end of the table.
This woman was sitting beside me talking to someone across the table, and at some point she mentioned something that sounded familiar.. her job.. I was thinking.. this can't be.. so I turned to her and asked her name. Lisa. Oh? Lisa xxx? Yes! I'll be damned if I had not just sat down beside ANOTHER person I had sold tickets to. Neat stuff like that just happens sometimes.
